BISHOP

All Tube Channel Strip

We are proud to announce that the newest member of the Gainlab Audio family has arrived. Our in-house designed BISHOP all-tube channel unit delivers far more than what would normally be expected from a high-quality channel strip. At the heart of the unit is a microphone preamp built around a three-vacuum-tube, fully tube-based design. Microphone and instrument inputs are conveniently located on the front panel, while microphone and line inputs are also selectable on the rear panel. In addition to the standard phase, polarity, and phantom power switches, we developed a special Drive control that allows additional coloration of the instrument input through a discrete circuit design. The large illuminated stepped gain selector, surrounded by an eye-catching ring, features two selectable gain ranges, allowing for up to +60 dB of gain with exceptional precision.

The VU meter in the center of the unit displays the output level, while directly beside it are the two gain reduction meters of the dual-slope optical compressor. This exclusive Gainlab Audio design provides unique possibilities for recording engineers by adding a second compression slope to the beloved workflow of classic LA-2A-style compression. The extended functionality can be precisely controlled via Character, Timing, and Threshold controls.

Directly above the output attenuator, a high-pass filter with two selectable options can be found. At the far end of the front panel lies a secret weapon called the Dynamic Air Band. This feature offers two selectable modes and can operate as the well-known and widely loved Air Band effect. However, when the compressor is engaged, it dynamically reacts to the actual amount of compression, adding a uniquely musical high-frequency character to the recorded sound.

The unit is built using the same rugged material selection known from all Gainlab Audio products. The engraved front panel and the high-quality internal components work together to provide long-lasting value for professional audio production.
